From 1978 onward David Jensen's companies employed Architects, architectural drafting people and Interior Designers to do in-house design work and interior design. In 1987, he hired the nationally renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern. Robert A.M. Stern is the celebrated creator, along with Disney, of the new town Celebration in Florida. Jensen participated with him in the design of 6 houses and the building of 3 in the Birmingham/Bloomfield area. This association with Stern led to the publication of articles regarding each of the three houses nationally and brought David Jensen's companies the distinction of "House of the Year-Builder Magazine" in 1990.
David JensenThrough the companies Woodlynne Design, Inc. and Kitchens By Jensen, Inc., David Jensen has been awarded various national distinctions for excellent design and has been extensively published in "Woman's Day Kitchen and Bath" and others publications.
In 1993, the design firm Woodlynne Design, Inc. began to respond to projects outside the State of Michigan and was responsible for design drawings for a house that was built in Washington, D.C. and for the interior architectural work of a 5,000 sq. ft. penthouse condominium in Boca Raton, Florida.
After 20 plus years of developing and building estate homes in the suburbs of Detroit, Mr. Jensen visited the town of Seaside, Florida quite by accident in 1994. That experience coupled with subsequent visits to study this remarkable place caused Mr. Jensen to pursue the acquisition of seventeen plus acres in the Village of Beverly Hills, MI. The project, called Westwood Common, was tailor made for grouping the houses close together and exercising the cluster option within the existing ordinance. The local municipality had recently down zoned and made every effort to prevent the approval of this and other developments over the last ten years. Approval was obtained after being denied for rezoning. Westwood Common brings a flavor of Old Key West, Florida in the design of its houses along with town planning principles which feature the Village Green and a scale reminiscent of some of the great streets and squares of Charleston, and Savannah. The reception has been outstanding, come see for your self.
Woodlynne Design, Inc. is a company dedicated to timeless architecture and design of quality homes and neighborhoods. Our work has required that we provide for the planning of the land in order to regulate its use. The integration of land planning with the development of a "Pattern Book" for the houses has created a truly unique combination. The result of this effort can be best described as visual continuity and coherence. Each detail is considered as we define scale, house placement, open space, grouping of homes, parks and landscape features. We are committed to the creation of streets, neighborhoods and places that are truly memorable.

Mr. Jensen joined Woodlynne Design, Inc. in 1995. He has nearly completed a degree in Architecture at Lawrence Technical University, Southfield Michigan. Mr. Jensen has brought a much-needed mastery of the computer to aid in the design an execution of concept planning through design development drawings. Mr. Jensen has been a huge asset to Woodlynne Design due to his real time response to the requirements of the clients, municipalities and other design professionals with whom we work. Mr. Jensen continues to provide leadership in further development of computer aided design tools that will take us eventually into virtual reality tours of our design projects. In addition to all of his other duties, Mr. Jensen has developed a project cost and tracking system to manage the construction at all of our projects. We are grateful for Mr. Jensen's contributions.
Village of Beverly Hills, MI
Woodlynne Design, Inc. in 1998 re-designed Beverly Park, which led to a new Master Plan for the Park. This design work, and the new master plan have led to the raising of over $100,000.00 in private donations. With those donations, the Village was eligible to apply to the State of Michigan for matching grant money, which it was recently awarded. With the State's grant of $200,000.00 and the private donations of $100,000.00 plus the contributions that the Village made, the Village has approximately $350,000.00 in which to refurbish this thirty-four acre Park. Many of the residents of the Village spearheaded a Dedicated tax drive which was successful, and will provide another $1,000,000 over the next five years for improvements to the park.
